The Issues Faced by Most Supplements
A couple of months ago, I became interested in the supplemental use of NAD. NAD stands for nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide. That big word may as well have been Cantonese or some random noises grouped together to sound like a word.
But I enjoy learning and wanted to produce helpful content. So I began to study. You can see the article here.
NAD supplements are intended to increase cognitive function, energy, and stave off disease. A pretty simple idea founded on an incredibly deep field of science.
So I thought, “Ok, you say NAD will give me more energy and clarity. How do I know?”
During my search, I found about 50 - 60 white papers and studies on NAD supplementation. Then, I printed them all off and created categories on my floor with the markings, “NAD+, NAD, NR, NMN, and trash”. This was my attempt to sort out the differences between supplements.
I was trying to figure out WHICH supplements worked and WHY.
My confusion increased after a dizzying amount of time reading. My goal to understand how one NAD supplement differs from another became more convoluted. Each study, researcher, and manufacturer had a different opinion about what works.

A lot of people don’t realize how ozone therapy side steps most of this issue. It’s a common issue faced by many supplements and therapies.
The Scientific Advantage of Ozone Therapy
Ozone therapy has a scientific advantage over common supplements and treatments because ozone therapy studies are easy to replicate.
You see, OZONE is ozone. Pretty obvious, huh? We can easily prove the purity and strength of the ozone gas from one machine to another.
Herbal supplements often argue over the activated form vs. the non activated form. A precursor vs. the whole molecule. “Quantum energy” vs. “Good vibes”. Or some other difference in how the supplement is made, absorbed, and used by the body.
Even if we agreed that NAD supplementation is good, we may not agree about which NAD supplement to take.
In my observation, marketing is usually the tool that ends up winning in the supplement industry. Who can evoke the emotional side of people the best and have a compelling offer? Who can build themselves to be the MOST credible? Who can spend the most money to acquire customers.
The beauty of ozone therapy is that we can easily replicate a study. We don’t have to worry about making sure the beakers are washed out with the right type of a dish soap (a true story that cost someone months of work because they couldn’t repeat the study).
Once we prove the purity and strength of the ozone gas, we can replicate a study.
Therefore, a scientist in China can easily do the same study as one in the United States. This eliminates an entire level of complexity often seen in other supplements and therapies.
The Ever-Looming Conflict of Interest
However, this brings up the issue of ozone compatibility. HOW do we know the ozone gas is pure?
Ozone compatibility tells us how resistance a material is to ozone gas. Ozone is a strong oxidant, which will easily break down materials. This produces contaminants which are undesirable for administering ozone therapy, especially into the blood.
Imagine ozone ripping apart plastic on a non-noticeable level. The small bits of plastic are now combined with the ozone gas and administered into the body… I don’t think anyone wants that!
As an industry, we have certain materials that are approved for use with ozone therapy.
But another issue arises. What if most of the medical recommendations written in English are by someone who profits from them?
Would there be bias? Perhaps a conflict of interest?
Even when their name is written as a contributor on the document, nobody bats an eye. In other documents and organizations, it’s not so obvious who is writing the regulatory advice. But, I’ll leave you to explore that rabbit hole if you like.
I can’t get into specifics here because I get a legal letter at the drop of a hat. And I’m too poor to fight a legal battle over nonsense.
How to Know the Purity of Ozone
The ozone machine I have, as long as I know the purity and strength of the ozone, will produce the same ozone as the one used for a study in Korea, assuming it uses the same purity and strength. Both of which are pretty easy to know.
Ozone strength is measured by an ozone analyzer. Although expensive ($5,000 or so), they are common and easy to acquire.
Ozone purity is measured by a third party, such as this test from Emerson. Another common way is to ensure all the components are made from ozone resistant materials. These include quartz, 316SS, titanium, silicone, and more.

Nonetheless, I do want to conclude this article with a recommendation to the International Scientific Committee of Ozone Therapy and other pertinent organizations.
I believe my recommendation will help progress the industry of ozone therapy because it will increase clarity about ozone compatibility and acceptable equipment.
